Tehomet designs and manufactures steel catenary poles for tramway networks across Finland and Europe, supporting the shift toward modern, low-emission public transport. Each tramway pole is a project-specific structure—dimensioned, engineered, and finished to match the urban environment and system requirements.
Our catenary poles are almost always customized. From clean cylindrical profiles to architecturally complex support structures, we co-develop visual and structural solutions with our clients to ensure performance and visual coherence in the streetscape.
A showcase example is Tampere Tram, where Tehomet delivered nearly 700 multifunctional poles in 2021. The poles support both catenary lines and urban lighting, with custom designs including the eye-catching “Corkscrew” lattice pole. Each pole was prototyped, approved, and produced at scale at our Kangasniemi facility, painted using long-lasting thermoplastic coating (Plascoat).
Tehomet is also a core supplier for the 25 km Raide-Jokeri light rail project between Helsinki and Espoo. In this nationally significant infrastructure project, we are delivering ~700 shared-use poles combining tramway catenaries, lighting, and traffic control—reinforcing our position as the leading provider of multifunctional transit structures in Finland.
