Located along the historic Dubai Creek, Al Seef is a unique fusion of cultural heritage and modern hospitality. The district is home to several diplomatic missions – including the embassies and consulates of the United Kingdom, United States, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait – as well as three Hilton hotels. More than a destination, Al Seef is a thoughtfully curated environment where Tehomet’s custom-made wooden lighting poles and bollards now add a natural and refined finishing touch.

Nordic Craftsmanship Meets Middle Eastern Aesthetic

Tehomet’s Pallas-series wooden poles introduce warmth and tactile materiality to an urban landscape otherwise dominated by glass, steel, and stone. The five-meter-high poles were installed along the waterfront promenade and pedestrian walkways of the hotel zone – shaping the space, guiding movement, and enhancing safety through carefully integrated lighting.

Along the waterfront edges, the eye is drawn to the Limiter rope bollards, specially designed for this project. These units combine structural thinking with visual elegance in a way that’s both practical and expressive.

“The bollards were designed for serviceability and with bold details – using exposed bolts and recessed washers embedded into the timber,” explains Sami Huuskonen, Design Manager at Tehomet. “The Limiters were delivered back in 2017, and the lighting poles were installed in phases between 2018–2020. This was an important showcase of tailored design that blends function with high-end visual presence.”

A Cohesive Visual Identity Across Three Hotels

Tehomet’s lighting solutions now serve all three Hilton properties within the Al Seef district:

  • Hampton by Hilton Dubai Al Seef – modern comfort for the urban traveller
  • Canopy by Hilton Dubai Al Seef – a design-oriented lifestyle hotel
  • Al Seef Heritage Hotel Dubai, Curio Collection by Hilton – an immersive journey into Emirati heritage

Each hotel represents a different facet of Dubai’s ever-evolving story – and the shared use of wooden elements brings visual cohesion and authentic character to the area.

“Tehomet’s wooden poles and bollards add an organic softness to the guest experience. They integrate seamlessly into the environment while delivering long-lasting quality and durability,”
notes Mohammed Shabeeb, Cluster Security & Health and Safety Manager for the Hilton Al Seef properties. “In our district, tradition, design and functionality come together – and details like this elevate the whole experience.”

Designed to Last – Down to the Last Detail

All poles and bollards were crafted from responsibly sourced Nordic timber, treated to withstand Dubai’s demanding climate conditions. Special attention was paid to both technical durability and visual finish – the kinds of details that truly matter when designing spaces to be timeless and inviting.

The Al Seef project illustrates how lighting can be more than functional infrastructure – it can be part of a place’s identity.
